Young wildlife biologists gathered in the Cash Family Ranch Life Learning Center on Saturday, April 6, 2024, to learn about Northern Bobwhite Quail from Texas Tech Quail and how researchers are helping this rangeland species through various conservation practices. Young biologists learned about quail nesting, brooding, foraging, loafing, roosting, predators and food chain through hands-on activities and experiences.
“For many ranchers, the Northern Bobwhite Quail is a treasured rangeland inhabitant. Unfortunately, bobwhite populations are declining throughout their historic range in Texas.” – Dr. Brad Dabbert, Burnett Foundation Endowed Professor of Quail Ecology and Lead Scientist of Texas Tech Quail.
