Bill Tullos raised cattle and sheep on his property for seven decades after taking over the family ranch when he was only 16 years old. Tullos kept the condition of his range foremost in mind by running a conservation program he began back in 1959. His service in agriculture included leadership roles at the state and local levels in the Texas Farm Bureau and nearly 60 years of membership in the Middle Concho Soil and Water Conservation District. He was a former director of the Mohair Council of America and Honorary Director for Life of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association.
