Kenny Monfort was a visionary pioneer in the cattle feeding and meat packing business. He turned Monfort of Colorado into a Fortune 500 company that was an international, multi-billion-dollar beef feeding, shipping, processing and packing corporation. Monfort was CEO of the family business until the sale of the company to ConAgra Red Meat Companies in 1987. Monfort stayed on as an executive until he retired in 1989. He was elected to the Colorado Legislature from 1965 to 1969 and received the Citizen of the West award from the National Western Stock Show in 1991.
