The National Ranching Heritage Center at Texas Tech University is accepting applications for an education intern and trolley tour guide intern for the 2025 spring semester. There is potential for extending internships into subsequent semesters based on the intern’s work quality, mutual interest, and availability.

Education Intern (2025 Spring)
What You Will Be Doing
Interns will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects with some of the best professionals in the ag industry.
The education department at the National Ranching Heritage Center is ramping up for major growth opportunities. This means that interns will be on the ground floor in developing educational opportunities, programming, events and content.
The National Ranching Heritage Center is looking for interns who are serious about developing their skills in educational programming and outreach. Each internship will be tailored to the intern’s goals and aptitudes and to the organization’s currently available work and priorities. Potential areas of involvement include:
- Work with field trip students and teachers
- Share information on Cash Family Ranch Life Learning Center
- Share information on Foy Proctor Outdoor Historical Park
Special Programming
- Work with Lea Ann to schedule special programs
History Trunk Checkout
- Communicate and work with teachers to gather information and schedule trunk pick-ups and returns.
Visitor Count
- Record visitor count for each day
Ranch Hosts (volunteers)
- Help with Ranch Host Board meeting
- Create calendars
- Work with scheduled volunteers on Living History Saturdays
Tours
- Learn the tour script
- Learn how to drive the trolley
- Be ready to give a tour if needed, trolley or walking
Ranch Day
- Gather supplies needed
- Help with volunteer sign ups
- Organize and deliver supplies to structures
Social Media
- Work with communications team to share content for social media posts
The National Ranching Heritage Center is an “Everybody rides for the Brand” team; interns should be ready to put on the metaphorical work gloves and chip in where necessary to fulfill the organizational mission.
About the Internship
Interns may work up to 20 hours per week, with at least 10 hours required. Work hours are determined around class schedules and business needs and may include occasional weekends or evenings for special events. It is preferred that interns work on site at NRHC during open hours Monday through Saturday, and Sunday. There are some circumstances where occasional off-site work may be appropriate.
Internships are paid at an hourly rate. Interns must be currently enrolled and taking classes as an undergraduate at Texas Tech University.
Trolley Tour Guide Intern (2025 Spring & Summer)
What You Will Be Doing
The National Ranching Heritage Center is ramping up for major growth opportunities. This means that interns will be communicating with more visitors than ever.
The National Ranching Heritage Center is looking for an intern who is serious about developing their skills in communication while interacting with our guests.
Trolley intern duties include:
Trolley
- Set up and prepare trolley for visitors
- Drive the trolley on the designated route
- Hook up sound system through trolley
- Unhook trolley and put it up after tours
Tour
- Learn the tour script
- Learn as much information as possible about structures
- Develop a personal, informative tour
- Interact with guests

About the Internship
Interns may work up to 20 hours per week, with at least 10 hours required. Work hours are determined around class schedules when possible, however the intern must be available on Saturdays and Sundays. Preference will be given to those available at other times during the week.
