The National Ranching Heritage Center at Texas Tech University is accepting applications for two marketing and communications interns and one education intern for the 2025 fall semester. There is potential for extending internships into subsequent semesters based on the intern’s work quality, mutual interest, and availability.

COMMUNICATIONS INTERNSHIP
What You Will Be Doing
Interns will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects with some of the best marketing and communications professionals in the ag industry.
The marketing and communications department at the National Ranching Heritage Center is ramping up for major growth opportunities. This means that interns will be on the ground floor in developing marketing and communications tactics, channels and content.
The National Ranching Heritage Center is looking for interns who are serious about developing their skills in marketing and communications. Each internship will be tailored to the intern’s goals and aptitudes and to the organization’s currently-available work and priorities. Potential areas of involvement include:
- Social media management—content planning and creation, account growth and management, competitive analysis, etc.
- Website development—content development and updating, website editing and design, SEO, etc.
- Graphic design
- Writing—persuasive, technical, and/or creative, depending on project
- Marketing operations—behind-the-scenes processes essential to successful marketing and communications initiatives
- Fundraising and nonprofit communications for the Ranching Heritage Association
- Event production, promotion and branding
- Organizational branding, including for the Ranching Heritage Association
- Media Relations
- Internal communications
- Videography and photography
- Advertising
- Storytelling
The National Ranching Heritage Center is an “everybody pulls the tarp” team; interns should be ready to put on the metaphorical work gloves and chip in where necessary to fulfill the organizational mission.
EDUCATION INTERNSHIP
What You Will Be Doing

The education department the National Ranching Heritage Center is ramping up for major growth opportunities. This means that interns will be on the ground floor in developing educational opportunities, programming, events and content.
The National Ranching Heritage Center is looking for interns who are serious about developing their skills in educational programming and outreach. Each internship will be tailored to the intern’s goals and aptitudes and to the organization’s currently available work and priorities. Potential areas of involvement include:
- Work with field trip students and teachers
- Share information on Cash Family Ranch Life Learning Center
- Share information on Proctor Park
- Special Programming
- Work with Lea Ann to schedule special programs
- History Trunk Checkout
- Get teacher information
- Have trunk waiting at front for teacher to pick up
- Ranch Hosts (volunteers)
- Help with Ranch Host Board meeting
- Create calendars
- Tours
- Learn the trolly script
- Learn how to drive the trolly
- Be ready to give a tour if needed, trolly or walking
- Candlelight at the Ranch
- Gather supplies needed
- Help with volunteer sign ups
- Organize and deliver supplies to structures
- Other events
- Help as needed
- Social Media
- Work with Adrian to share content for social media posts
About the Internships
Interns may work up to 20 hours per week, with at least 10 hours required. Work hours are determined around class schedules and business needs and may include occasional weekends or evenings for special events. It is preferred that interns work on site at NRHC during office hours Monday through Friday. There are some circumstances where occasional off-site work may be appropriate.
Internships are paid at an hourly rate. Interns must be currently enrolled and taking classes as an undergraduate at Texas Tech University.
