Education Internship
Interns will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects with some of the best professionals in the ag industry.
The education department the National Ranching Heritage Center is ramping up for major growth opportunities. This means that interns will be on the ground floor in developing educational opportunities, programming, events and content.
The National Ranching Heritage Center is looking for interns who are serious about developing their skills in educational programming and outreach. Each internship will be tailored to the intern’s goals and aptitudes and to the organization’s currently available work and priorities. Potential areas of involvement include:
- Work with field trip students and teachers
- Share information on Cash Family Ranch Life Learning Center
- Share information on Foy Proctor Historical Park
- Special Programming
- Work with Lea Ann to schedule special programs
- History Trunk Checkout
- Get teacher information
- Have trunk waiting at front for teacher to pick up
- Ranch Hosts (volunteers)
- Help with Ranch Host Board meeting
- Create calendars
- Tours
- Learn the trolly script
- Learn how to drive the trolly
- Be ready to give a tour if needed, trolly or walking
- Summer Stampede
- Work with staff to organize event
- Be present for event
- Help where needed with check-in or wherever assigned
- Candlelight at the Ranch
- Gather supplies needed
- Help with volunteer sign-ups
- Organize and deliver supplies to structures
- Other events
- Help as needed

- Continue with the organization and maintenance of the Cash Family Ranch Life Learning Center
- Monitor supplies in Security Headquarters, Sally May’s House and Cake House
- Work with volunteers to coordinate Toddler Tuesdays
- Gather supplies for activity
- Help with activity
- Work with field trip students and teachers
- Share information on Cash Family Ranch Life Learning Center

Trolley Tour Guide Internship
Interns will have the opportunity to meet and interact with people from around the world. They will share information about the structures throughout the Foy Proctor Historic Park.
The National Ranching Heritage Center is looking for interns who are serious about developing their skills in communication and personal interactions. Each internship will be tailored to the intern’s goals and aptitudes and to the organization’s currently available work and priorities. Intern responsibilities include:
- Trolley Tours
- Learn the trolley script
- Learn how to drive the trolley
- Give regular trolley tours
- Be available for special trolley tours when needed
- Requires Weekend Availability
- Help with check-in when needed
- Work with front visitor kiosk to fill in when needed
- Summer Stampede
- Work with staff to organize event
- Be present for event
- Help where needed with check in or wherever assigned
- Other events
- Help as needed
The National Ranching Heritage Center is an “everybody rides for the Brand” team; interns should be ready to put on the metaphorical work gloves and chip in where necessary to fulfill the organizational mission.
Interns may work up to 20 hours per week, with at least 10 hours required. Work hours are determined around class schedules and business needs and may include occasional weekends or evenings for special events. It is preferred that interns work on site at NRHC during open hours Monday through Saturday and Sunday. There are some circumstances where occasional off-site work may be appropriate.
Internships are paid at an hourly rate. Interns must be currently enrolled and taking classes as an undergraduate at Texas Tech University.

The National Ranching Heritage Center is located on the Texas Tech University campus in Lubbock. It is supported through a partnership between Texas Tech University and the Ranching Heritage Association, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving and perpetuating ranching heritage.
Since 1969, NRHC and RHA have shared America’s rich ranching story with the public. More than 60,000 people visit NRHC’s 19-acre historical park and expansive indoor museum each year. NRHC reaches millions more through its social media and online outlets, and through its educational programs and cultural events.
