Built in 1928-1929, the sheep hospital was in use until 1955 for treating sheep and goats for blowfly infestation that created the dreaded screw-worm disease. The hospital also served as a place to treat infections that resulted from castration and other medical problems. The facility isolated the infected animals, making it easier to provide care. The treated animals were released into a separate pen to the west of the building. The sheep hospital serves to educate people about the sheep industry as part of the ranching trade and the story of the screw-worm and its eradication. The sheep hospital was donated by George Canon from his Canon Ranch between Ozona and Fort Stockton in Pecos County, Texas.
