This wooden water tank was first used around 1890 in the Griffin pasture on the JA Ranch in Palo Duro Canyon in Texas. It held a reserve water supply for 3,000 cows. Moved to the ranch headquarters in the 1920s, it was used as the oat bin to feed the horse herd. The bin was given to the NRHC by M.H.W. Ritchie and his daughter, Cornelia. It was dedicated May 21, 1988.
