Star Model 15 Windmill

c. 1915

On the plains, the Star was the second most popular windmill behind the Eclipse. This one was manufactured by Flint and Walling Manufacturing Co. in Kendallville, Ind. It is 48.6 feet tall, has a millwheel 14 feet in diameter and an alemite grease fitting, probably installed in the 1920s or 1930s. The Star was restored at the NRHC with its original red, white and blue paint covering cypress and white oak.
