A Day in the Life of Hank the Cowdog: Activity 1, Ranch Life Book 1: Ranching & Livestock

Students learn how geography and mapping connect to ranch life by identifying landmarks, water sources, and routes essential to daily operations. They use maps to explore how natural features and human-made structures influence where ranchers build corrals, roads, and homes. The activity encourages spatial reasoning, introduces basic cartography skills, and develops understanding of how people interact with their environment. While reading pages 1-5, students will place the Character Cards on the map where they belong.
