Ranch Food Webs: Activity 2, Ranch Life Book 1: Ranching & Livestock

Students explore how energy flows through a ranch ecosystem by identifying producers, herbivores, omnivores, and carnivores. Through a hands-on card game, learners simulate feeding relationships among animals found on the ranch, reinforcing concepts of interdependence and balance in nature.

Reading Activity: After reading Chapter 2 (pages 5–7) of Ranching and Livestock, students apply their understanding by building desk-sized food webs that illustrate predator-prey dynamics and the transfer of energy between organisms.
