Hank’s Ranch Rhyme Time: The Poetic Doodle-cast

Explore the sights, sounds, and stories of ranch weather through poetry and art. In this creative, cross-disciplinary activity, students analyze ranch-themed artwork to identify seasons and weather patterns, then use those observations as inspiration to write their own original poems.
Students experiment with poetic techniques such as imagery, rhyme, simile, metaphor, and personification to bring weather events to life. They then extend their learning by creating a painting or illustration that visually represents their poem.

This activity blends science, literacy, and the arts, helping students connect weather patterns to real-world ranch experiences while developing creative expression and descriptive writing skills.
