Cattle Characteristics: Activity 7, Ranch Life Book 1: Ranching & Livestock
Students study the physical traits and adaptations that make various beef cattle breeds successful in different ranching environments. After reading Chapter 6 (pages 29–42), students identify inherited traits such as coat color, body shape, and horn structure. They connect these characteristics to how cattle are raised, selected, and managed in the beef industry. The lesson helps students understand how genetics influence both animal performance and business decisions on the ranch. The bonus activity, Cattle Breed Bingo, offers an interactive way for students to review breed names and reinforce recognition of traits while reading.
