Seasons on the Ranch: Activity 9, Ranch Life Book 1: Ranching & Livestock

Students explore how seasonal changes influence ranch work, vegetation cycles, and resource needs throughout the year. While reading Chapter 7 (pages 43–76), students track shifts in weather, daylight, and temperature using a foldable graphic organizer. The lesson helps students recognize how ranchers plan labor, feed, and maintenance activities according to the seasons, highlighting the connection between natural systems and economic decisions. A bonus modification is provided to adapt the activity for younger students, focusing on basic observation and comparison skills.
