Most Valuable Asset: Activity 6, Ranch Life Book 2: Cowboys & Horses
Students evaluate the contributions of people and animals to the success of a working ranch. Using information gathered while skimming through Chapters 3A and 4D, learners analyze the roles of ranch hands, horses, cattle, and dogs, then assign relative “value” based on importance to ranch operations. The activity promotes critical thinking about labor, resource management, and economic interdependence within agricultural systems while helping students recognize teamwork as an essential component of ranch life.
