A Day in the Life of a Cowboy: Activity 7, Ranch Life Book 2: Cowboys & Horses

Students explore the daily responsibilities, challenges, and accomplishments of cowboys working on a ranch. Using a jigsaw reading strategy, learners divide sections of the text and identify three key insights to share with their group, promoting collaboration and active reading. Afterward, students use the game board to simulate a cowboy’s workday, connecting time management, physical endurance, and problem-solving skills to the historical and modern realities of ranching life. This lesson emphasizes the value of teamwork and persistence while deepening appreciation for the ranching profession.
